Hi everyone! I know that this is kind of a long post, but I wanted to go over some changes in the works. To do this I also wanted to touch on the history and purpose of EAMP. Our vision for East Africa is to see extreme poverty eliminated and that no child has to go without food. After visiting Uganda in 2008 and seeing the lives of the children living on the streets my life was dramatically changed and I purposed to do my part to help. Upon arriving home EAMP was officially launched and during the following two years we successfully started many projects to achieve our vision. We brought electricity to New Hope orphanage, we purchased beds for the children living at New Hope, as well as funded and installed a source of water the children could safely drink from. In addition we have worked closely with the director of New Hope to engage in self-sustaining and income generating projects. We firmly believe that to create a sustainable solution in Africa we have to help the organizations we work with to become less dependent upon outside aid. Over the past couple of years our strategy has matured as we have become more aware of the factors driving extreme poverty. Our largest project, and probably the biggest change we have made, was the launch of our Microcredit program. After running a pilot, we have seen the program really take off and become successful. With this in mind, we have made the decision to shift our strategy towards microcredit and dramatically expand our services in that arena. In this regard we are also exploring various ways to expand and fund our growth. This will allow us to increase the number of women we are able to bring into our program. Our donors are a vital part of this and we cannot succeed without them. Even a small donation of $25 can be used to impact a life. From a financial perspective I am still amazed how so little can cause such big changes. In addition to our donor support we are launching a new funding program we have called, “invest for Change”. This allows investors to actually invest money in microcredit, and earn interest on their money. It is incredible that by simply investing with us, and allowing EAMP to use the money for microcredit loans, lives can be dramatically changed for the better. Over the next couple of weeks I will be solidifying the program, but wanted to get the basics up on the site. As always, your input and ideas are welcome! Thank you for your continued support!
