Hi everyone, and thank you so much for your support! I just got back from my latest trip to Uganda (Wow, it has actually been a month and a half...how time flies!!) and wanted to send out a quick note to let everyone know what is going on. Everything we are doing is made possible by you and your support. With each life that is changed and each child that is given a new hope there is a direct connection to your love and support. The primary purpose of the trip last month was to officially launch our microcredit program. We gave out 22 loans to 20 working mothers and 2 men. Each recipient is living in extreme poverty and will use the loan to invest in their business. It was very exciting talking to the women and hearing how they plan to invest the money. Among the recipients is a tailor who will use the money to buy material to make and sell new clothing. Another is a woman who buys and sells used clothing, she will now be able to expand her business with a higher margin. It was incredibly exciting to work with these mothers and hear their ideas. Ideas they had been planning for a lifetime were now, finally, being realized. Many of these women have sent their children to live in various orphanages simply because they cannot afford to feed them. They now have a hope that the life they had never thought possible, just might be achievable. I firmly believe that this program will be imperative in seeing extreme poverty eliminated in this region of the world.
